I agree with SmartDogs, get a shredder that does sense when a hand or paw gets near it and shuts off. As for me, I always unplug my shredder when I am not using it and put it in the closet. My dog has yet to master open the closet door, drag it out and turn on the shredder. Of course then again, my dog barks crazy at it. Everytime I read a story like this I get upset. It shuts off the instant (and I mean nanosecond) flesh touches it. I do not know how they do this - but it's cool.
